Bilbo

The owners of one of our rescue dogs from 2003 has been in touch to say that sadly Bilbo has passed away recently 🙁

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

We wish to inform you of our great loss of Bilbo. We adopted Bilbo from NWESSR in 2003 when he was a frightened and underweight 8-month-old puppy, he quickly became an important member our family and best friend to Minnie who we also adopted from NWESSR six weeks earlier and just 1 week older.

Although Bilbo hadn’t such a good start in life he soon overcame his fears of men and gradually put on weight, he quickly developed a love of the water.

The only time he would ignore the recall whistle while off the lead was when he got the smell of water, the chance of a swim was just too overwhelming, it often took us up to 45 minutes to coax him out.

Together we have spent many happy hours travelling to just about every part of the UK with our caravan and as we are keen hill walkers Bilbo loved his new life to the full.

He was the most loyal and lovely dog you could wish for, his patience and gentleness with our young grandchildren was brilliant.

Sadly a few weeks ago he became seriously ill and tests showed that his kidney’s had failed.

Unfortunately, tablets and a change of diet only helped for a short period, with great sadness sadly we made the decision with the vet to let him go to sleep.

Thankfully Minnie is Coping without her friend and is still fit and well.

Bilbo brought great pleasure into our family life, he is Sadly missed,  R.I.P.  Billy Boy!
