Not too long ago, I was in Heartbreak Hotel 😭 Not any longer, now I’ve got a new family to Love Me Tender 🧡 I’ve led a bit of a sheltered life and thought the world was a scary place, but I’m getting braver now as I’m being slowly introduced to the world and all its strange things. Hello everyone, I’m Fred and I have good news to share!
You might remember me – I was Red – but apparently Fred is a much better name for a lovable little fella like me 😍 I don’t mind what I’m called because I’m in my new home with my new family and I’m here to stay 🎊🎉🎊
Mum and Dad tell me I’m a treasure and a dream, and not even an ounce of trouble! We like to sit in the conservatory and sometimes Dad and I have a little snooze together on our settee 🥰 We go for lovely walks and I can sniff the world to my heart’s content.
I have a sister called Lara, she’s a border collie so she’s very clever. Lara’s been very kind to me and she’s not jealous of her new little brother. Then there’s Jazz – she’s a cat and I like cats! She didn’t much like me at first as I was too bouncy for her and she wanted to be left alone, but we’re friends now and we snuggle up together. I’m trying to teach her to do the Springer Sprawl! 😂

Well here’s the news folks, I’ve got one !!
I was thinking maybe I wouldn’t be able to find one, when out of the blue, off I went to meet my new mum and dad, who I heard say to the NWESSR lady, ” he’s the one for us”.
Well off we went, I was on my best behaviour. (Springer Spaniel style) The next day I was so thrilled to be out and about. We’re doing such exciting things and fantastic walks, I think it went to my head a bit, well goodness me, I am a springy Springer Spaniel after all. 🐕
Mum and dad have got some grown-up children and some grandchildren. I’ve been so pleased to meet them, especially the younger ones, I have to say that they are nearly as lovely as me! Because I love them so much, I’ve let them sit on the two comfy beds on the floor that mum bought for me while I make do sitting on mum’s lap, quite comfy I might add, with the added bonus of warmth ☺️
Mum thinks I’m a bit skinny so she has bought me some very yummy new food, which I think is lip smacking delicious 😋
I heard mum telling the NWESSR dude that we’re off on a little holiday very soon. Don’t tell them I know, as I think it’s meant to be a surprise for me!!
Well I can’t believe my luck, to say I’ve fallen on my paws is an understatement 🙃
I can feel the love ❤️ they have for me, and I truly love them 💖

We’re pleased to say that Coco has found her forever home. Her owners say she has settled in well and she is improving all the time.
She is very good in the home, in the countryside off lead she really enjoys and recall is excellent. Coco is not as fond of visiting the town and seems wary of other people and dogs there, but they are working on this.
Ohhhh my goodness, we’re having a proper Puppyfest at the moment! 🧡🤎🧡
Meet Harvey, he’s the brother of Phoebe who we introduced yesterday
Harvey went to live with his forever family in January and he’s growing fast and starting to learn all about the world. He already has a Cocker Spaniel friend to play with 🥰
Harvey keeps his Mum on her toes whilst she’s working at home, and her colleagues love to see him on teams calls. He enjoys zoomies in the garden…and helping with the laundry 😂 And the best of all are sofa cuddles in the evening.
Next month Harvey will be going on a little trip to Devon and enjoying his first experience of the beach.
We all got a bit broody at NWESSR when this little lady came into our care, looking for a forever home!
We’re pleased to say that little Phoebe is settling in to her new home and her family are captivated by her, and enjoying her ‘moments of madness’ 🤣 I think we can imagine this!
There is lots for Phoebe to learn and she’s just started Puppy School, where she has been praised as a very clever girl 🥳 She’s played in the snow and on the beach, and will soon be enjoying trips in the caravan in the coming months.
Hello, my name is Misty, and I’m here to tell you that I’ve found my forever home 🥳
My new family are lovely and very kind to me, they say I’m a star 🤩 Mum works from home, so I’m not lonely and I get plenty of cuddles. I LOVE cuddles!
We go on lots of walks 🐾🐾🐾 I’m getting fit and I’m doing really well with my recall so I can run and play off the lead.
My tail never stops wagging and I’m a very happy young lady!

A MESSAGE FROM COCO’S FAMILY
“It’s been seven months since we adopted Coco. She’s beautiful and there’s not an aggressive bone in her body – we’ve yet to hear her growl. She still loves her soft toys she came with and unlike our previous spaniel doesn’t damage them. She settled quickly into our house and is very affectionate. She loves it when visitors come, greets them with a soft toy, does not jump up or bark and will roll on her back to have her tummy tickled. She doesn’t bark when people go past the house and settles happily when we go out and leave her for a short while. She’s been on holiday to the coast and loved the sea.
We’ve worked on recall with a whistle and we’re now confident that on her off lead walks in local woodland she’ll return to the whistle, although sometimes at such speed she overshoots! Off lead we walk two miles – she does many more than this! She’s a very energetic dog and it’s great to see her enjoying the freedom of the woods.
She gets very excited and barks when she thinks she’s going for a walk. We’ve learnt to desensitise her to some of the triggers that cause this behaviour and this has improved. With the help of a local behavioural trainer we’re making further progress. She doesn’t pull on the lead as much as she did when we first got her and is now more social with other dogs and people we meet. She’s now got used to seeing horses, although the first time she met one with us she wasn’t quite sure what it was!
We’ve tried taking her to our local pub and cafe and to a friend’s house but she doesn’t settle and barks to leave. This is something else we’re working on with the behavioural trainer as we’d love her to join us on these social occasions.
We are really happy Coco came to live with us.”
BASIL’S STORY, BY HIS NEW FOREVER FAMILY
✍ Just three weeks after our first enquiry, we received a phone call from the NWESSR Homing Officer, telling us she had found us a 10 month old puppy that was ready for a new family. So, I sat down, grabbed a notepad and pencil, ready to hear more about who this puppy was…
We drove to West Yorkshire, with Travis, our 8 year old Sprocker in tow, to meet and collect Basil (previously called Cosmo) from his foster home. There, we chatted with the foster carer about Basil, the organisation too, and had Travis gently meet him. Returning as a four rather than three, Basil is now a Lancashire lad. 🌹
BASIL SAYS:
🐾”Since being lifted into the car to Lancashire, I’ve been surrounded by sea air, woodlands, fields and bird song all day long! Travis is becoming a great leader in our pack of 4, showing me the important sofas around the house and all of his (our) toys – tug of war is hard work, I think I will get stronger than him eventually 💪 I love the back garden a lot, I prefer to explore outside longer than I’m meant to but afterwards I come inside for much needed water and treats.
🐾 Sometimes we all go to learn new tricks with a fun lady – wow, she gives me sausages from her pocket when I follow her! Learning to follow means sometimes I can run and run (and run) off the lead, but most of the time my family are working out their arms! On walkies we also go through gates, which I am learning to not be scared of, even when they creak…
🐾 Prickly thistles made me jump, kissing gates were utterly mystifying and squeeze stiles take some working out but 2 weeks in I have mastered both. I’ve kept calm and met cows, sheep, pigs and horses – all very curious creatures.
🐾 Dad human has practised short lead walking = more sausages and today Mum human was so proud of me as I came back 8 times to 3 short whistles when left to run free on a long lead, on the beach which is just brilliant fun, though the waves were a little scary but there are just so many smells out there.”
✍ One month on, we don’t know where the time has gone. We are smitten!
