Hoover

HOOVER – *special home with outside kennels required*

Sadly NWESSR are once again looking for a new home for our gorgeous Hoover. Newsletter readers will know that Hoover was sadly returned to our care around the beginning of the Covid 19 lock down. After assessment by NWESSR trainers, he is now ready for what we hope will be the forever home this lovely lad deserves.  Hoover is a very handsome 10-year-old boy who spent time with us at various points since he was 2 years old having been returned throw no fault of his own. Understandably, given his history Hoover can find it hard to trust new people and so Hoover’s new owner will need to have the necessary kindness and patience to continue the work we have undertaken with him. Such efforts will be rewarded as Hoover is clever, loyal and very active and has become a firm favourite with NWESSR volunteers and kennel staff.

Type of Home Needed

Hoover is looking for a  quiet child-free home, with someone who has experience of  the needs of a working springer and will provide plenty of company and stimulation, while  understanding that Hoover likes his own space and is an independent dog who is not in general keen on fuss or cuddles.

While NWESSR usually stipulates that dogs must live in the home with their new family, Hoover appears to enjoy living in a kennel with access to outdoor space, rather than in a house. This could change over time. But for now, his ideal home must  be willing to house him in an outside kennel. Hoover certainly likes his home comforts though – his kennel is very comfy and he has lots of soft toys, which he likes to carry around. He also loves his treats, which again makes training him easy, and he sits for them and takes them very gently. While Hoover is now middle-aged, like most 10 year old springers he is very fit and healthy, and needs an active owner who has the time and energy for long walks, which he really enjoys.  When Hoover first came to NWESSR he was not keen on certain other dogs; however with training this has changed, and it possible that he could live with another steady dog if he is carefully introduced to him/her.

Finally, Hoover’s prospective owner will need to live close enough to the Clitheroe area to visit this lovely boy frequently and get to know him before adopting him and perhaps most importantly of all the must be willing to listen to the advice of NWESSR’s trainers
