3yrs old Rio is a gentle looking boy, who has come to NWESSR because his home environment was not working for him.

Rio has lots of positives. He was responding well to training helped by the owner’s son. However, his owner felt going forward, she didn’t have the time to commit to ongoing training.

When Rio arrived in kennels, he was shy at first, but is now more confident. He can pull on the lead in excitement, especially at the start of a walk, so practice with loose lead walking is needed. Off lead he will usually recall to his owner.

Rio is normally fine with other dogs outside, unless he feels anxious, then he will bark. A home where he is the only dog, with no children or cats, would be good for him.

The owner had a dog cam and when left alone Rio either played with his toys or slept. At night he stayed in the dining room sleeping on the floor or settee. In the car he sits on the back seat with a harness.

Rio will need an adult only home, with owner/s willing to build on what he has been learning.
