The owners of Missy have been in touch to say that she has recently passed away.

Please see below for her epitaph.

Our Missy, a real star. She arrived with us on 20th October 2013 & was a delight from the onset. She settled so well with our other 3 (she shared her bed with Taffy) and kept up with them despite only having 3 legs, up until recently.
Sadly the limb & hip gave up on her and at 13 an operation was too high risk, so with a heavy heart, we said good-bye to her.
Our brave little girl who will never, ever be forgotten.
Good night Missy xxx

The owners of Keano have been in touch to say that he has recently passed away.

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

I adopted him from you in February 2008, he was 18 months old and we had 9 wonderful years.

He passed away on May 17th. He would have been 11 this month. Not old. My friends tell me he had a good happy life so I shouldn’t feel bad, but it is very hard isn’t it? He went with the love of his life – a tennis ball. He was never without one 24/7.

One of his antics was that he would drop a ball in front of him and flick it with a front paw back between his legs then whizz round and try and catch it before it went too far. He spent ages doing this happily playing on his own!! He spent a lot of time doing things he knew annoyed

He spent ages doing this happily playing on his own!! He spent a lot of time doing things he knew annoyed me, like dropping balls in the fish pond and on the garden where Id just planted seeds! Too smart for his own good but such fun.

Greatly missed.

Best Wishes
J Parsons

The owners of Joe have been in touch to say that he has recently passed away.

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

Hello, It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of our beloved rescue dog Joe.
We collected Joe from the Warrington kennels in 2003, a very timid little fellow of about 18 months who had been rescued by NWESSR.
It took about 7 months to get Joe’s trust and he was very frightened of men in particular.
After a week of getting acquainted with our cat, Mr Smudge they became lifelong friends, Joe so upset when in 2010 Smudge passed away, that after a few months we got him a new companion a Springer pup called Fen.

Back in 2006, Joe did a very remarkable deed. Sue had taken Joe for a walk at lunchtime and on returning to the house, collapsed on the drive losing consciousness.   No one was about to help and Joe pulled and tugged Sue to the back door licking her face to bring her around, which worked and she phoned for help. Some four months later Sue returned from the hospital.
The medical team had diagnosed her with septicaemia and a large DVT. The consultant said that without Joe’s prompt actions Sue may well have not pulled through. As it was, she was never able to return to work.
Joe also had quite a few health issues starting with fits in 2009, he battled back, in 2014 he had a stroke, he came back to health. In 2015 he started to go blind and had surgery to relieve the pressure in one eye. Joe adapted and would use the light/ shade that he could see and of course his excellent sense of smell to navigate his way around.
One day visitor did not shut the gate properly and off he went for a walk on his own with a clear purpose of taking himself on a favourite walk. Fortunately, a good neighbour spotted him and brought him home.
Such a joy to be with, such a friend and a determined fellow we thought he would last forever…
Sadly as we all know that is not reality. A disabling fit took him away so quickly. One moment he was walking in the garden an hour later our precious friend was gone.
Since his departure, we have taken Fen, our now six-year-old Springer, out and revisited many of the places we went with Joe and the happy wonderful adventures we had.
Joe had walked up many mountains and hills, had a swim in rivers lakes and the sea, not to mention lots of muddy places!
Joe changed our life for the better and we will always be grateful to NWESSR for bringing us together with Joe.
Kind Regards, C & S Johnson.

Smudge

The owners of one of our rescue dogs have been in touch to say that their dog Smudge has recently passed away.

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

We would like to inform you that our beloved rescue Springer smudge has sadly passed away at the grand old age of 17.

We had 10 lovely yrs with her since she came to us in August 2006.

Smudge has been a great companion to our 4 grandsons and loved visits to out caravan in Singleton. When she was younger she was energetic and very playful but in the past few years has found it more and more difficult to get about.

We will all miss her dearly. Our son and daughter in law are in the process of re-homing a rescue springer from yourselves and we look AAforward to being Springer grandparents very soon ( We would love this to be posted on your website)

The owners of one of our rescue dogs have been in touch to inform us of his recent passing:(

Please see below for some words from his owners.

We got Max and Jazz, brother and sister, from the NWESSR in June  2010.

They were just turning seven they couldn’t wait to get in the car! We were told to feed Jazz separate else she would pinch Max’s food, on the one hand, she was very protective of him on the other she hogged all the toys and would hover to lick his bowl!

When Jazz first arrived she was stress incontinent and kept hiding behind her bed under the TV stand. Both of them had a bad start in life and though they had been rehomed before coming to us they had regressed. With the help and advice from NWESSR, we got through and Jazz became an affectionate and happy dog.

She loved her cuddly toys and she loved going out in the car going for paddles all the things spaniels love! In June 2016 Jazz was diagnosed with a 70% mass which turned out to be a tumor she fought a brave battle but in May 2017 she was fading fast. we took her on the Leighton Buzzard Steam Railway in her last week as a goodbye.

On Saturday we had to take her to the Vet we had her put to sleep and she went in my arms. Missing her so much heartbroken.

Tuco

The owners of one of our rescue dogs have been in touch to say that their dog Tuco has recently passed away.

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

It is with the greatest of sadness that we wish to inform you of the devastating loss of our beloved boy Tuco.

We adopted Tuco from NWESSR after he had spent many months in kennels in Ireland. He came to us very underweight and we were shown pictures of him that broke our hearts. We fell in love immediately.

Once he came home with us, he very quickly became a massive part of our lives and was a huge part of our hearts. He was the most loving, gentle-natured dog you could ever hope for, and fitted in with our other dogs straight away.

Sadly, on 1st May 2017, we had to make the hardest decision any dog parent has to make. We had to say goodbye to our darling boy. Unfortunately, his back legs were failing, and he deteriorated very quickly. We could not see him suffer, and could not put him through any more distress than he had already had in his early days.

Our boys’ ashes are now back at home and he is with his brothers and sister and is at peace. We miss him terribly every day and still see him in the corner of our eyes from time to time. He will always be with us.

R.I.P. our beautiful boy .. we love you and miss you Tuco … Goodnight xxxxx

We would ask NWESSR to add Tuco to the Gone but not forgotten page.

Kindest regards

Claire and Iain

Bilbo

The owners of one of our rescue dogs from 2003 has been in touch to say that sadly Bilbo has passed away recently 🙁

Please see below for his epitaph from his owners.

We wish to inform you of our great loss of Bilbo. We adopted Bilbo from NWESSR in 2003 when he was a frightened and underweight 8-month-old puppy, he quickly became an important member our family and best friend to Minnie who we also adopted from NWESSR six weeks earlier and just 1 week older.

Although Bilbo hadn’t such a good start in life he soon overcame his fears of men and gradually put on weight, he quickly developed a love of the water.

The only time he would ignore the recall whistle while off the lead was when he got the smell of water, the chance of a swim was just too overwhelming, it often took us up to 45 minutes to coax him out.

Together we have spent many happy hours travelling to just about every part of the UK with our caravan and as we are keen hill walkers Bilbo loved his new life to the full.

He was the most loyal and lovely dog you could wish for, his patience and gentleness with our young grandchildren was brilliant.

Sadly a few weeks ago he became seriously ill and tests showed that his kidney’s had failed.

Unfortunately, tablets and a change of diet only helped for a short period, with great sadness sadly we made the decision with the vet to let him go to sleep.

Thankfully Minnie is Coping without her friend and is still fit and well.

Bilbo brought great pleasure into our family life, he is Sadly missed,  R.I.P.  Billy Boy!

Poppy

Hi Everyone,

It is with great regret that I announce that Poppy has crossed the rainbow Bridge. Please find below a message from her owners.

It is with great sadness that on the Tuesday before Christmas we had to have Poppy put to sleep.  I have cried ever since as I miss her so very much.

Poppy carried a ball everywhere all day long she had boundless energy and always had a cheeky smile on her face, she was always happy to see you, loved everybody and everybody loved her.
Her and Mollie my daughter’s springer were partners in crime and were very often in trouble for stealing food, getting on the settee and general mischief, they did make us laugh and were best of friends most of the time.

I had her for a wonderful 3 years but at 14 she had recovered from a stroke but was in a lot of pain from arthritis and the vets said there was nothing more they could do.

I hope to have another springer who I’m sure ill I’ve just as much.  Goodbye to my best little girl.

Ann and family

Jack

Hi Everyone,

We gave Jack and Amber a home in Southport on the 12/4/14. Two beautiful soft caring dogs you could have, they fitted into our family like a jigsaw puzzle piece that had been missing.

They went on the beach for a walk every morning which they both loved. If Jack went off his lead he was like forest Gump ran, ran, ran until he could run no more. As long as Amber had her ball with her she has a happy smile on her face running along the beach, in and out of puddles when they were there, funny sight to watch.

In January Jack had a stroke, he became very confused, he had poor movement on his left side with a lot of quiet time and TLC from us all he made a slight recovery, still went out for his walks on the beach but stopped running just gentle trotting.

On Saturday the 1st April, we took him on his final walk as his legs were very weak, his eyes looked very sad also he had lost control of his bodily functions.

We took him to the vets to get assessed but knew it was Jack,s final ride, he passed peacefully in our arms.

Jack is running free like he used to over rainbow bridge. He is going to be laid to rest under his favourite lavender bush (see picture), when we pick him up from the vets.

Sorry to write this sad news with tears flowing like rivers down my face. We gave him a forever loving home, what he always wanted.

Midge

A Farewell to Midge

In November we had to have our English Springer Midge
(aka Sammy) put to sleep after his health and happiness
came to an end following a stroke the previous year.

We brought him home from the rehoming centre nr Runcorn
when he was a sleek and svelte young dog then in 2001.

Midge lived to a fantastic old age – well over 18! Some
members may remember him running about rather dottily
at the NWESSR open days when we were holding the plant
stall.

We like to remember him as always full of energy and vitality- a bright spark.
