Harvey is an adorable 6 months old Springer. He needs a gentle new owner, who will introduce him carefully to different situations, as currently he lacks socialisation and is not terribly brave. This little guy is a bit scared of other dogs.  He will go as far away as his lead will take him if a dog comes near.  He has not been let off the lead yet, so it is unknown how he would react with dogs whilst off the lead. Harvey does not travel well in the car at the moment and he tends to howl. A new owner needs to have plenty of time and patience to dedicate to Harvey, to bring out the best in this lovely puppy. He must not be signed up to a “boot camp”, basic training is all that is required at this stage and must all be reward based. He needs to learn that a new owner is a worthy leader who will not let him come to harm. Lots of time must also be allowed for him to play, relax and explore. Harvey could live in a home as an only dog, or could live with another dog as long as that dog would not overwhelm him.

I thought I’d write to let you know how pleased I am that the guys at NWESSR found me my forever home Let me tell you that I love it here, I have so much space to run about and play, a garden AND a large paddock which is a joy

We are going to see a man to do some training. I’m not sure what we are training for, maybe it’s one of those Marathons that lovely Leanne ran Perhaps they want me to use the stopwatch!

I really love being with my new family. They have even said that we could go off in the caravan for a holiday, that would be wonderful.

I’ve asked Dad and Mum to take some photos of me, I hope you like them.

Lovely 2yrs old Basil settled in well within the first couple of weeks after rehoming. He came from an urban area, but now enjoys walks in the surrounding countryside. Basil gets plenty of attention from his new owners who play ball and share toys with him and give him lots of fuss which he loves. He likes a paddle too. What a star he has turned out to be.

Ooooh we’ve had an email from Buddy

“Hi everyone at NWESSR, and thank you so much for finding me my new forever home

I asked Dad to take some photos of me so that you can see how much fun I’m having, I really hope you like them.

When we are on our walks and we meet people, Dad says I’m a really good boy and I’m just right. Well I am a very intelligent Springer Spaniel, so I’m generally right most of the time, I must admit

Dad even said, that if I were a car I’d be a Ferrari, whatever that means.

Since I arrived here everyone has been so nice to me. Dad fitted a thing he called a baby gate across the kitchen door, I must say it’s been invaluable for me to practice leaping over This will be especially helpful when we come across stiles on our walks.

Next week Dad says we are going to classes to meet other dogs with their humans. I am a bit nervous, but Dad said I shouldn’t worry too much as he will look after me, and I really know he will……”

Hello NWESSR, my name is Harry (was Henry) and I’m one very happy boy. After a shaky start to the year, I’ve now found my forever home.

I’m only one year old, and still a bit of a hooligan, but I’m learning new things every day!

I love my new family and I know they love me, we spend lots of time together and every day there are plenty of walks and cuddles.

Introducing Woody who is 3 years old and is described by his owners as being a typical Springer full of life energy and love.

Family visit the home with their dogs and Woody is happy in their company as he knows them. If he is on a lead walk outside of the home, he can be nervous of other dogs if they are too close to him.

Off lead Woody will usually go to his owner if they encounter other dogs, he can normally be distracted with his ball. Woody tends to pull on his harness, but not on a Halti. He is trained to recall to a whistle.

It’s thought he may have missed some of the normal socialisation due to Covid as he was a puppy at the time.

Woody has grown up with children who live in the home and there are visiting children. He can be fine with them and play, but sometimes he takes their toys and will want to keep them.

Recently Woody was neutered and was recovering, he was sitting on the sofa with the 1 year old child who was stroking him and he snapped, it’s possible the child touched his ears which he can be sensitive about, or he was just unwell. There was no broken skin but it has made his owner feel anxious.

Woody is not destructive or noisy and is usually happy with his toys for mental stimulation or he will just go to sleep when left alone.

Woody doesn’t usually react to cats but like most Springers does chase birds if off lead.

Woody is looking for a home where he will continue to learn, have lovely walks and enjoy the companionship of a new owner who can love and enjoy him.

Molly is a sweet 12yrs old girl who has had a difficult time in her twilight years. She has come to NWESSR through a set of circumstances which are in no way any fault of her own. 

Molly’s current owner found her wandering the moors in August 22 at this time she was in poor condition. She took her home and endeavoured to find her owner through social media which she did. However, they agreed she could stay with the present owner. 

In the first home Molly was a working dog who lived outside in kennels with other dogs. 

The current owner’s home is a busy home which can be noisy at times, with people and her three dogs. The owner has visiting children, which are of different ages and the noise and bustle can cause Molly to be a little nervous, however when the children are quiet, she usually loves a cuddle with them.  Molly has never shown any aggression. She is happy around the other dogs and walks quite happily on or off lead, as much as her age and touch of arthritis allow. More frequent walks rather than a long single walk suits her best. She has a little pain relief if she has done more than she perhaps should have. As Molly is over 10 years of age NWESSR will provide financial assistance for vet fees. 

Molly lives with 3 cats and a horse and is happy to do so, birds are not an issue either. 

Molly is looking for a home with all that TLC she deserves in her twilight years, a quieter home where she can fully relax and enjoy life to the full with lovely walks, good food, treats, playtime and lots of love.

I just have to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to NWESSR for their incredible dedication in bringing families and furry friends together! Earlier this year, our family was lucky enough to welcome two amazing Springer Spaniel brothers, Beck and Bane, into our home thanks to their wonderful work.

From day one, these boys have melted seamlessly into our lives, filling our days with love and laughter. It’s like they’ve always been a part of the family! Their sweet personalities, love for cuddles, and boundless energy for adventures in the woods and on the beach have brought so much joy into our lives.

And let’s talk about their love for water – it’s infectious! They’re like little water-loving magicians, always finding a pond to splash in during our outings.
